Wrap yourself in natural beauty! This lightweight silk scarf has been dyed using natural cochineal dye and the natural pigments of real leaves.

Real leaves were gathered and bundled with the silk fabric, making this scarf completely one of a kind. This scarf was dyed with a natural dye called cochineal, resulting in a beautiful blush pink background. The leaf prints were made by Japanese maple, bleeding heart, alder, and salmonberry leaves. The leaves left their own pigments on the fabric, creating gray, green and yellow prints, many outlined in darker pink from the cochineal dye.

The process of printing fabric with real leaves is known as "eco printing" or "botanical dyeing." No synthetic inks, dyes or pigments are used. You can learn more about my eco printing process here: https://www.cedardellforestfarm.com/eco-printing/

The fabric is a type of 100% silk called charmeuse. It is a medium-weight silk that is shiny on the front and matte on the reverse. The color and leaf prints show through on both sides, though they are darker on the front. It is super soft, light and drapes beautifully. Colors are permanent and this scarf is hand washable.

You will receive the exact scarf shown in the photos. All scarves come packaged in a box with an information and care sheet included.

Size: 14 X 72 inches (35.5 X 183 cm)
Material: 100% silk charmeuse

Care & Handling:
- Gently hand wash.
- Use mild soaps.
- Hang or lay flat to dry.
- Iron using silk settings.
- Do not dry clean.

Eco-Printing requires the application of heat and pressure to fabric, often resulting in a more textured appearance of the fabric. While small wrinkles in the fabric may ease over time, they are a semi-permanent feature of the eco-printing process.
