Create Something New With Cotton Rope

I have sewn hundreds of these baskets and so many people have asked “How do you make these?!” that I’ve finally made a class and included all my tips and tricks to help you make a cute and functional basket  

In this class you will learn to use your sewing machine to sew something totally different than fabric. These baskets are made from cotton rope and I’ll teach you the basics steps and also how to embellish them with fabric and pompoms, how to change the size and shape, how to add handles, and I even touch on dyeing the rope to create your own colors. Natural Dyes & Watercolor:
Making Your Own Flower Paint

In this class I walk you through the process of extracting pigment from flowers and using it to create your own watercolor paint! I demonstrate this using marigold flowers but share suggestions of other easy to find flowers that you can also use to make watercolors.  At the end of this class you will have your own natural watercolor to paint with and the ability to apply this process to a variety of flowers in your area to create a seasonal pallet that’s completely unique to you.

Watercolor paint is playful and fun to use and making your own is a rewarding process that will deepen your appreciation and connection to all the gifts nature has to offer. 


Botanical Printing:
Creating Natural Leaf Prints on Paper

This is the long-awaited online version of my popular in-person workshop! Learn to create beautiful botanical prints on paper. Botanical printing (also called eco printing) is an art form that uses the natural pigments in leaves to make prints that reveal the textures, patterns, and beauty of nature. In this course, I share my suggestions for leaves that are commonly found in most any location, my favorite types of paper, and two different ways of bundling them together for different results. You will be set up to have success on your first try! This class is perfect for anyone who loves nature, natural dyes, or paper crafting. It includes a wealth of information, making this class suitable for beginners as well as those of you with some experience with botanical printing.

At the end of this course you will have a pile of paper with gorgeous leaf prints that you can use in all kinds of projects, or simply frame and enjoy. Be warned: you may never look at leaves the same way again! 


Making Botanical Ink:
Write, Draw & Paint with Nature

In this course, I share many plant sources that make ink and walk you through the steps of making a beautiful neutral color palette of handmade ink. You will learn how to modify your ink to create different different colors and numerous ways to use your ink - writing, drawing, painting, and even some unconventional methods.

This course includes all the information you need to make your own botanical ink that will be an incredibly versatile addition to your creative life.

Create beautiful color with natural dyes! In this course, I introduce you to numerous natural dye sources and show you how to use them in unique combinations to create stunning, sustainable color.

Even if you have never dyed fabric before, you will learn all you need to know to get started - choosing and preparing fabric, identifying plants and kitchen items that create beautiful, lasting color, and how to dye and care for your garment.


Boro Stitching Basics:

Japanese Boro Stitching began long ago as a way of mending clothing, but it has evolved into a style of stitching that stands on its own as art. In this course, you will be inspired by these techniques while infusing modern fabric, colors, and patterns into your hand-stitched project.

This class is for everyone who loves fabric, color, upcycling, and who want to slow down and create something beautiful amidst our busy, modern lives.
