Slow Stitch Needle Book Kit, Indigo Dyed Fabric

$17.95
5 available

Simple stitches and naturally dyed fabric become a beautiful, functional needle book with this all inclusive kit. Your finished product will be a work of art as well as a secure place to store your needles and sewing pins. It will look beautiful on your work table and is also a convenient way to transport your needles whether you're going on a trip or simply moving to another room in your house.

Boro comes from a Japanese word that means something tattered or repaired, and refers to the practice of piecing and stitching small pieces of fabric. Indigo-dyed fabric was traditionally used in boro work and is an option available with this kit. Sashiko stitching (running stitches sewn through layers of fabric) is used to hold the patchwork pieces together and create a beautiful texture and look.

This project is perfect for beginners as well as those with hand-sewing experience. The size of the finished project is small enough to make it easy to complete, while large enough to have room to practice several stitching patterns if you desire.

Finished book measures approximately 4.5 by 3.25 inches (11.5 x 8.25 cm) and has 4 interior pages to store needles.

Each kit includes:
6 pieces of naturally dyed cotton fabric
2 pieces of natural cotton fabric for the backing wool blend felt for interior pages
cotton pearl embroidery floss - natural color*
embroidery needle Instruction booklet with color photos of each step

You will only need to supply sewing thread in a complimentary color. A washable/disappearing fabric marking pen and ruler are recommended, but not essential.

* If you would like to use embroidery floss in other colors, you can find naturally dyed silk floss in my shop here: https://www.cedardelldesigns.com/shop?category=Embroidery+Floss
